Paiyaa - kindergarten / adoloscent / or grown

Use KISS Principle while reviewing a movie advised of my friend after read my exhaustive review on VTV recently.

So to Keep It Short and Simple, N. Lingusamy's Paiya is an average entertainer a film we find nothing to write home about. A lovable lead pair, peppy songs ( sounds good because you have a feeling you heard in some other movies of the same director ), admirable cinematography, never enough for this movie with sagging screenplay plays the villain.

Lingusamy has his own reputation with grossly overrated Anantham, slickly made action cum love stories like Run and Sandakozhi. You cant differentiate Run, Sandakozhi and Paiyaa very easily. All have the same knot of hero crossing the path of villain inadvertently, love at first sight, etc etc. But the intensity of the action blocks of Run and Sandakozhi was sorely missed here. The only novel concept presented here almost two thirds of the movie happens on travel popularly called a “ road movie “ now a days.

The logic has taken a back seat as the story with full of holes like the holes in a polo mint factory. The brainless villains and goons look frightening but behave hilarious. The stone faced milind soman is one such. One punch by karthi he spits blood and looking to take vengeance and put price on karthis' head. They never seems to track his whereabouts when Karthi crosses them on the road accidentally it reminded them that they were insulted and assaulted by him sometime back and want his blood. How convenient?

The other group chasing Tamannah ( by the way you don't expect her to act and emote isn't it? After all statues in Madame Tussauds never act or emote but look beautiful and realistic ) is even more bizarre. They are frightened by the female voice over the cell phones and chasing the lead pair from Bangalore to Mumbai.

The story moves on expected lines without leaving much to our guessing. All that started well ends well. The visual effects team worked hard to bring the chases lively, beautifully assisted by Madhie the cameraman adds color to the proceedings. By interval point you half expect some thing of a cracker is going to happen in the second half. When that has not happened you feel yourself consoled you expected less. The friends of Karti gives some comic relief to the proceedings apart from the villains.

There are some questions lingers if at all you want to analyse the movie....

Who are the parents of the lead pair as they only lent their voice ( recession???)
When do Karthi gets another good script to act?
Will Lingusamy come out of the tailor made scripts he had done for the past 4 movies?
When will a hero get intelligent friends as they are practically dimwitted or plain dumb as shown in the movies?
What is the relation between the title and the movie?

Last but not the least is the review followed KISS principle???
